The British Music Experience

Celebrating 60 years of British Music

We are big fans of the British Music Experience (BME) at the O2 arena. The exhibition, which follows the history of British pop music from 1945 - 2009, combines a whopping £5m worth of coveted music memorabilia with cutting edge audio-visual technology.

Our favourite part of the exhibition was the Gibson Interactive Studio. Here, music enthusiasts can play guitar, piano or drums, get virtual coaching from the X Factor’s Yvie Burnett and play alongside artists such as KT Tunstall and Amy Macdonald. Each session is recorded and can be saved online to your personal page of the BME website.

The more active among us had a go at Dance the Decades - computer generated lessons in cult dances ranging from the Twist to the Macarena! Performances are recorded and converted to a hologram that you can save and play back at home.

This exhibition has something for everyone and is a must for all lovers of British pop music.
