The Omicron wave: key event industry learnings
While in-person events were well and truly back last summer and there was a lot of positivity in the air about the future of our industry, the Omicron variant really showed us how quickly things can change.
This got our MD, Sarah Yeats thinking over the holidays: what has it taught us about the event industry, and how can we use these learnings to plan ahead?
That’s the question she addressed in a recent online piece for M&IT Magazine. Here Sarah discussed:
- The importance of creating and implementing measures that will safeguard the industry, not just when it comes to the pandemic, but other external factors outside of our control.
- How the pre-production phase has changed, both in response to evolving restrictions and travel mandates, and client and attendee sentiment.
- Our role as event professionals, and the need to step up and readily have solutions in place, so as to remove the stress on the client’s behalf.
- The need to continue to prioritise employees’ health and wellbeing and sustainability, even during busy periods, and when lead times are short.
